Ever found yourself wondering what you should post next on your social media profiles?

I totally get it…I have been there.

Figuring out what you should post to keep your followers engaged and coming back for more can be overwhelming.

You want to make sure to create content that meets the needs of your audience, addresses their problems and keeps them entertained.

If you aren’t doing this, you will find your following unfollowing you and finding someone who does do this for them.

So, if you are in need of a bit of inspiration these ideas will help.

#1 Offer Valuable Information – These are posts that help your followers with their problems and the content can literally be anything. All you need to do is identify a problem they face and share how to fix it.

#2 Ask a question – Doesn’t get simpler than this! Just ask a question to find out your followers’ opinion or to find out what they are looking for. We love to share our opinions and talk about our problems. Try and make it relevant to your brand, and easy to answer.

#3 Share your successes story – Have you be able to accomplish something with your product, service or opportunity? Then share your success story. Everyone loves a good story.

#4 Behind the scenes – Give your followers a sneak peek at your life. Think of it as your own reality TV show clip.

#5 Top 10 list – Sharing a top ten list that is relevant to your brand is fun and entertaining.

Examples: 10 makeup items you should keep in your purse or 10 ways to cut your calorie intake.

#6 Create A challenge – Everyone loves a challenge. Plus, it’s just fun to see what happens when they actually complete them. Make sure to follow up with a post to ask your followers about their results.

Examples: 7-day water challenge: challenge your followers to drink 8 glasses of water a day for one week and report their results. Bold lip challenge: challenge your followers to try a new bold lip color for a week.

#7 Contests or giveaways – This is a great way to reach new followers by having your current followers share, tag and like for a chance to win. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your contests. They can be anything you can dream up.

Examples: Ask fans to get creative with your product such as take pictures with it or come up with the best “alternative” uses and post them on their social media with your account tagged to be entered.

#8 Share customer success stories – Do you have customers that love your products? If so, ask them to provide a success story for you or interview them on a live feed. This is a great example of real social proof that your product works from someone other than you.

#9 Create an explainer image – This is an image in which you show your followers how to do something in a few easy steps.

Examples: Where to put eyeshadow or basic stretches to do before running.

#10 Image galleries – An image gallery is where you show different ways to do one idea.

Examples: Different date night makeup looks or different outfits with the same jewelry featured showing how it can dress up any style.

#11 Celebrate holidays – Big or small, celebrating a holiday is an easy social media post. Think about holidays that might be relevant to your brand and always celebrate those.

Examples: If you work in beauty. national lipstick day is a good one or if you are in health and fitness, national hiking day might be a fun option for you. This website is my go-to for finding little-known yet fun holidays.

#12 Inspirational/motivational quotes – Quotes are some of the most popular posts on social media. Try to pick ones that make sense for your brand and make sure to include an image.

Inspirational and motivational quotes

#13 Interviews – Whether it’s one of a customer or an expert in your field, interviews are a great way to have an engaging discussion. You will also find that when you partner with others for an interview, most of the time they will share the interview with their followers as well, giving you exposure to their following.

#14 Life-hack or quick tip – Everyone loves learning ways to make their life easier and if your tip or life-hack can help them do that, then they will be more than willing to share it.

#15 Share nostalgic memories – “Remember when…?” type posts are hugely popular on social media and if you are creative you can tap into this to build your following.

Examples: Find some old makeup tips like when women used to use 1 product for blush and lipstick or share some of the old workout equipment that women used to use. My favorite is the 1950s fat jiggling machine.

#16 Polls – Polls are a fun way to find out all kinds of things about your followers. Want to know what their interest are? Just put up a poll and give them options to choose from.

#17 Promote a live stream – If you’re planning to go live, make sure to notify your followers in advance.

#18 Share others post – No need to reinvent the wheel. If you have seen a post that you think your followers could get value from, make sure to share it with them.

#19 Ask a true or false question – These are a lot of fun and can give you a good idea of how much your fans really know about a subject. Make sure you tell them not to cheat…no googling allowed. Lol

#20 Lifestyle post – Don’t be afraid to share the fun things in your life with your followers. Did you go on a fun vacation? Just get a new car? Do you have a new baby on the way? It’s ok to share the good things in your life with your following.

Using these different types of post make it super easy to follow the 80/20 rule when posting about your business.

1 out of every 5 posts can be a post recommending your product or service but the other 4 should be fun, entertaining or educational.

I hope you got at least a few new ideas that you can use on your social media networks.
